Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin - Governor Scott Walker attended the ribbon cutting ceremony for a new EMCO Chemical Distributors, Inc. (EMCO) facility today in Pleasant Prairie. The new 260,000 square foot facility employs about 145 people and houses EMCO’s corporate headquarters and its manufacturing and distribution divisions. EMCO’s corporate headquarters was previously located at its North Chicago, Illinois facility. EMCO is a chemical manufacturer, packager, and distributor. EMCO President Edward Polen started the company in his garage in 1971. Accruing over $300 million annually in sales, EMCO is now the 10th largest chemical distributor in the United States, and 44th in the world.
“It’s great to see another successful company expanding in Wisconsin,” Governor Walker said. “I am excited to be here for this moment in EMCO’s history, and the company’s decision to relocate their corporate headquarters to Wisconsin is also great news for our state.” “We are thrilled to be expanding our company by opening this new facility in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin,” said Edward Polen, President and CEO of EMCO. “Although we have been doing business in Wisconsin since 1971, we are excited to have a physical presence with the opening of our state-of-the-art manufacturing/distribution facility and corporate headquarters. In addition to opening this facility in Pleasant Prairie, we opened our new Waste Services facility in Kenosha this week. This expansion allows great opportunity for EMCO to grow.”
Over 4,000 products are sold and distributed through EMCO including alcohols, acids, dry chemicals, and various raw materials including paint, graphic arts, and personal care items. There are four divisions within EMCO: Manufacturing and Chemical Distribution; Chemical Blending and Packaging; Fine Ingredients; and Waste Services. The Waste Services division, which opened in Kenosha in 2002 moved to a larger facility this week in Kenosha.
EMCO has spent the last three years building this state-of-the-art facility, and has additional locations in Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota, Indiana, and Canada.
